Everything you need to know.

Benefits of becoming a distributor.

There are many reasons to partner with us as a distributor, but here are the top five. If this sounds like a good fit for you, let's chat.

Unlimited earning potential.

The sky's the limit when it comes to how income and profit you can generate. The more you sell, the more you make.

We help you to succeed.

As the official distributor for your region, we are invested in helping you to prosper. At the beginning, we provide all of the products, marketing materials and training to get you started. And as you grow, we are here to help empower your success.

Focus on what you do best.

As a distributor, you succeed by developing customer relationships and growing sales. We handle most other things (including storing and shipping your products, development, marketing and production) so that you can spend more time doing what drives results.

Access a growing family of brands.

Our business is focused around developing sustainable products using native plants and marketing them to the needs of modern consumers. We have a sizeable range of new products and brands in development, which you'll get the first opportunity to distribute as they come to life.

Actively improve the environment.

We donate a proportion of revenue from every product sold to The Reforestation Fund to help bring native forests back to New Zealand. It doesn’t cost you a cent to make the world a better place, and the more you sell, the more we donate.

Our approach to growth.

Our mission is to help bring native forests back to Aotearoa by creating demand for native plant extracts. Mānuka Essentials is one of the brands doing just that, but we have many more projects in development. As we grow, we plan to establish brands that can compete in a wide range of industries and outlets.

For you as a distributor, this means more growth opportunities across a wider range of potential customers and sectors within your territory.

Marketing.

Through our content marketing agency, Paste & Publish, we have an epic team of designers, writers, marketing strategists and other creative professionals. With this team, we are able to not only develop awesome products and market them to the world, but also to support your efforts as a distributor. When it comes to creative execution, we have what it takes to perform.

Development.

We have spent the last few years developing the skills, resources and networks for product development, design, sourcing and manufacturing. Our goal is to set up a product development machine which we can use to create a wide range of awesome brands that fuel the growth of our reforestation empire.

Distribution.

This is where you come in. We have fantastic products and switched on talent, and we're looking to partner up with the right people to bring our offerings to a nationwide audience. The initial upfront cost is minimal, and you can get started with just one person - but there is no limit to how large your distribution business can grow.

About the company

Mānuka Essentials was founded by Callum Armstrong at the beginning of 2018 with a vision to help bring native forest back to New Zealand. We are doing this by creating demand for native plant extracts to give landowners an economic reason to plant native forests on their land. If it's more profitable to farm native plants than any other type of agriculture, we will see Aotearoa return to forest.

We enter existing industries and product categories where these extracts can offer a distinct advantage, and develop excellent products with them. Our team and network are focused around development and marketing - creating compelling offerings and bringing them to the world.

While our business is focused on bringing an important vision to life (more info about our vision here), we know that it requires a profitable and scalable commercial offering to succeed, which is why we have taken the path of business to help reforest New Zealand.

Aside from the commercial and environmental benefits of our business, we make darn good products. Customers love them. They look good in store. And most importantly - they are effective.

What does this mean for you? As the official representative for your area, you have the opportunity to distribute a growing selection of innovative products and brands at the wholesale level, and receive expert marketing support to help your business thrive.

Our brands and projects

Here's a brief overview of the projects that we are currently involved with:

Mānuka Essentials - personal care that you can feel good about. We develop and market a beautiful and effective range of plant based personal care products that use East Cape mānuka oil as the key ingredient.

Mānuka Sensations - sensational natural wellbeing products. While this project is in the earlier stages of development, our current product range is focused on essential oils and essential oil blends that use mānuka and kānuka oils as key ingredients. Moving forward, we plan to invest a larger amount of resources into growing our Mānuka Sensations product range.

Bulk native ingredients supply - we distribute a small but growing selection of native plant extracts and supply them to businesses around the country. These companies currently include soap supply stores, essential oil retail businesses and other product-based brands. As a distributor, you will have access to our bulk native ingredients to offer to customers in your region.

The Brand Incubator - we are in the early stages of setting up a product innovation lab and operations hub. This business will take over our product development, production, logistics and sourcing functions. Through this offering, we can help your customers to create their own ethical and sustainable brands, and do all of the hard work to empower their success.

Paste & Publish - this is our in-house marketing agency. Our core strengths at Paste & Publish are content, storytelling and sales funnels. We cover a wide range of disciplines, including strategy, branding, research, planning, writing, design, advertising, web development, social media, SEO, conversion rate optimisation, campaign management and more. We are nimble and constantly changing to suit the rapidly evolving marketing landscape.

The Reforestation Fund - this is how we give back to the environment. Every time we sell a product, we donate a small amount to TRF (we donate 50 cents from most items). These funds are used to support local environmental projects that plant native trees and look after our biodiversity. We are currently going through the process of preparing this project for the official launch.

In addition to these projects, we also have a range of brands in development and partnerships in place for the near future. We will be launching offerings around native plant based food and beverage, cleaning products, fragrances and more. We are also working with an international organisation to develop products out of a special coffee extract.

By focusing on development and marketing, and working with the right people for distribution, we can change the agricultural landscape of New Zealand and establish the native plants industry as a major contributor to the economy.

Marketing & supplier support provided

As our official wholesale representative, we are invested in your success. To help you prosper, we have created a range of marketing collateral. In addition to this, we have the capabilities to develop almost anything to meet the needs of the market.

Here are some of the current resources that we have available for you:

  • Engineered bamboo display stands - we have teamed up with award winning industrial designers to create a bamboo display stand that holds 9 bottles in store. These are great for loyal stockists that sell decent volumes and actively promote the range. We are also working on a lower cost cardboard display stand for stores that generate less sales.
  • 1ml tester sample cards - as the old saying goes 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'. We can supply you with small testers to leave with clients. These are very useful if the decision maker is busy when you visit a store and you need to follow up at a later time.
  • Retail posters and A6 promotional cards - we have a small selection of retail promotional materials to help your customers sell more products.
  • Data sheets - we also have a small but growing selection of data sheets to support your sales activity with stockists.
  • Business cards - when you join up as a distributor, we will provide you with business cards and a company email address.
  • Photography database - over the years, we have invested into high quality product photography and natural landscape shots (of native forests). These can be provided to your customers to help them promote our products online.
  • Knowledge base - we have a detailed knowledge base about the history, uses etc. of mānuka, which you can find at www.manukaessentials.com/learn.

Who should apply?

  • You live in or near the distribution territory that you’re looking to represent.

Steps to success

Here’s an overview of the pathway to becoming a Mānuka Essentials distributor.

1. Apply to become a distributor - If you think you’ve got what it takes to seize this opportunity, either fill out the application form below or send us an email at distributors@manukaessentials.com with more information about yourself and we’ll be in touch with you.

2. Initial conversation - If we think that you could be a good fit, we will set up a meeting to get to know you better, share more details about the opportunity and answer any questions that you have.

3. A 3 month trial - After our initial meeting, if we both feel that this opportunity is the right fit, we will begin working together on a trial basis for the first three months. Here’s what it will look like:

  1. Agreement - we agree to work together and confirm an initial stock purchase.
  2. Onboarding - we provide all of the training, support, samples, selling materials and other resources that you need to succeed.
  3. Support - once you are up and running, we help you to succeed. This means attentive support, access to our creative talent and a collaborative relationship. After all, when you prosper, so do we.
  4. Review - after three months of selling, we meet to decide whether to take it to the next level and enter into a long term partnership. If we can both see a prosperous future working together, and enjoy the business relationship, then we agree to continue.

4. Establish ongoing agreement - If we decide to continue working together, you will have an exclusive distribution agreement for your territory with annual rights of renewal. We will introduce you to any wholesale clients that we have already established in your area, and will put active measures in place to help you expand.

As our relationship progresses, you will get the opportunity to represent a wider range of brands, support the environment in more ways, and enjoy the benefits of partnering with an organisation that’s pushing new boundaries in the native plant space.
